GCS is accepting K6th grade applications from September 1st through March 12th to fill openings for the 20092010 school year. Traditionally there have been 20 openings for the entering Kindergarten class and six openings at the 4th grade level where class size increases. However, based on the School District's recent approval of GCS' colocation at Logan Street Elementary School in 0910 and thereafter, GCS expects to be able to expand within three years to two classes at each grade level, K8.

Should the number of applicants at any grade level exceed the number of openings, a public random lottery takes place in March to determine the school enrollment in accordance with Education Code section 47605(d)(2)(B).  Preference is given to pupils who reside within the LAUSD attendance area, to the siblings of alreadyenrolled students and to the children of school employees.  An ordered waitlist is developed from the list of students who do not receive admission.  Should openings occur during the school year or in the summer, parents of waitlisted children are notified and offered enrollment in order of their wait list number.   New enrollment applications are required each year at all grade levels, and new class lists and waitlists are established from these applications.

The curriculum at GCS is rigorous and standardsbased but is adapted to varying skill and ability levels and learning styles.  The administration and the teaching staff work closely together to ensure instruction is differentiated so that all students, including English Language Learners, special education students and high achieving students can both access the program and be challenged to work to their potential.

As an independent charter school, the Gabriella Charter School accepts applications from  elementary students residing anywhere in the state of California.  The school does not base admission on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion or disability.  GCS is non−sectarian in its programs, curriculum and operations.  GCS is a publicly funded school and does not charge tuition.  GCS adheres to all state and federal laws regarding the minimum age of students.
